Three Arrests in One Family

In the early hours of June 6, 2026, agents of the Ministry of Intelligence carried out simultaneous raids on the family homes of Kazhal Rahmani and Danial Rahmani in Kamyaran, arresting the brother and sister. According to published reports, the arrests were carried out without the presentation of a judicial warrant and were accompanied by violence, including the breaking of doors.

A few hours later, Isa Feyzi, Kazhal Rahmani’s husband and a former political prisoner, went to the Intelligence Office in Kamyaran to follow up on the situation of Kazhal and Danial. He was also arrested. Since their arrests, concerns have grown over the legal and physical condition of all three detainees.

After her arrest, Kazhal Rahmani was first transferred to the Intelligence Office in Kamyaran and was later held in solitary confinement in the women’s ward of the Sanandaj Juvenile Correctional Center. From the first days of her detention, she began a hunger strike in protest against her own arrest and the arrests of her brother and husband. Reports indicate that, as a result of the hunger strike, she has suffered weight loss, dizziness, and low blood pressure.

During a recent family visit, Kazhal stated that she would continue her hunger strike until she and the other detained members of her family are released. Holding a hunger-striking detainee in solitary confinement, depriving her of effective access to a lawyer, and keeping her in prolonged legal uncertainty all increase the risk of serious harm to her physical and psychological health.

A Justice-Seeking Family Under Pressure

Danial Rahmani and Isa Feyzi also remain in detention. No transparent information has been released about the legal process, possible charges, or their access to an independent lawyer. The continuation of this situation, especially in a case connected to a family’s long-standing pursuit of justice, raises serious human rights concerns.

Jamal Rahmani, the brother of Kazhal and Danial, was killed by forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in 2018. Years later, his body has still not been returned to his family, and the location of his burial remains unknown. Over the years, the Rahmani family has repeatedly approached security and judicial authorities in Kamyaran and Sanandaj to request the return of Jamal’s body or information about his burial place, but they have not received a clear answer.

The Rahmani family has faced continuous security pressure in recent years. Rebin Rahmani, another brother of Kazhal and Danial, is a former political prisoner and one of the directors of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network. Kazhal Rahmani herself has been repeatedly summoned and interrogated by security agencies in previous years. In autumn 2019, following pressure from the Ministry of Intelligence, she was dismissed from her job at Sina Hospital in Kamyaran. Danial Rahmani had also previously been summoned and interrogated several times by IRGC Intelligence forces in Kamyaran.

The security and judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic are responsible for protecting Kazhal Rahmani’s life and health while she remains in detention. The immediate release of Kazhal Rahmani, Danial Rahmani, and Isa Feyzi, guaranteed access to lawyers and family visits, and accountability regarding the fate of Jamal Rahmani’s body are among the central human rights demands in this case.
