Only one day after Meysam Veisi and Mojtaba Veisi were killed by IRGC forces in Dalahu, two other members of the same family faced serious security charges.

Sajjad Veisi, the brother of Meysam and Mojtaba, and Shayan Veisi, their cousin, now face the charge of “moharebeh.” This charge can lead to the death penalty under Iran’s judicial system.

Two More Members of the Veisi Family at Risk

Security forces violently arrested Sajjad Veisi on 21 February 2026 while he was traveling on the road to Sarpol-e Zahab. Authorities arrested Shayan Veisi during the January 2026 protests. They had also arrested him earlier during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising.

Human rights reports say their case has been referred to the Kermanshah Revolutionary Court. Reports also say security agencies prepared the case against them and relied on alleged confessions obtained under torture.
The timing of the moharebeh charges has increased concern. Authorities brought the charge only one day after IRGC forces killed Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi. Their family now faces both deadly violence and the threat of death sentences.

So far, authorities have not published clear details about the case. They have not named the court branch, the judge, or the defense lawyers. They have also not explained whether Sajjad and Shayan Veisi have access to independent legal counsel.

The Veisi family’s case shows a wider pattern of security and judicial pressure against Kurdish Yarsani families and protesters in Iran. This pressure affects not only those detained, but also their relatives and the families of victims.

Hiwa Life calls for urgent international attention to the cases of Sajjad Veisi and Shayan Veisi. Iranian authorities must drop any charges based on torture, guarantee access to independent lawyers, and protect both men from the risk of execution.

This case is closely linked to the killing of Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi in Dalahu. Read Hiwa Life’s previous report on their killing here:
