Amir Sobhani is a well-known and beloved Kurdish artist from Javanrud, Kermanshah Province. He was arrested on Monday, 18 May 2026, after security forces raided his home. He was later transferred to Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah.
According to reports, a 10-day detention order has been issued for him. The charge against him has been stated as “collaboration with Kurdish parties.”
In recent years, Amir Sobhani has been active in organizing Nowruz celebrations, Kurdish cultural ceremonies, and artistic programs. Beyond his cultural work, he has also been involved in environmental activism, including efforts to help fight wildfires in the Zagros forests.
His arrest highlights the continued pressure placed on Kurdish artists, cultural workers, and civil society figures in Iran, particularly those involved in preserving Kurdish identity, community gatherings, and public cultural life.
Hiwa Life calls for attention to Amir Sobhani’s case and urges human rights defenders, civil society actors, and international observers to amplify his name and demand accountability.
