Enforced Disappearance

Enforced disappearance occurs when individuals are detained or abducted by authorities and their fate or whereabouts are denied or concealed, leaving families without information, protection, or closure. In Iran, this practice is frequently linked to arbitrary detention, torture, and intimidation. The “Enforced Disappearance” campaign documents these cases, preserves evidence and testimony, and works to prevent erasure while supporting families seeking truth and accountability.

A Documented Case: Osman Mameh

Osman Mameh was forcibly disappeared by Iranian authorities. His fate and whereabouts remain unknown. Officials have failed to provide credible information regarding his detention, legal status, or physical condition, leaving his family in prolonged uncertainty.

His disappearance reflects a broader pattern in which individuals are removed from public record without acknowledgment of custody or access to legal protections. The absence of official transparency places him outside the safeguards of due process and leaves his family without confirmation of his safety or survival.

About the campaign

The MAMEH Family Campaign seeks justice, truth, and safety for
Osman MAMEH, who has been forcibly disappeared by Iranian authorities; for
Ardalan MAMEH, who has been targeted and harassed for being his father’s voice and for
participating in the Woman, Life, Freedom protests; and for
Shahin Abdulghaderi, who was critically injured by 300+ pellets fired by IRGC forces and
requires immediate specialist treatment and safe evacuation.

Mameh Family

We are calling on the international community — human rights organizations, medical networks,
and media — to act now.
Reveal Osman’s fate. End reprisals against Ardalan. Evacuate Shayne for urgent care.

Sardar Pashaei

Founder & Head of Athletes

Sardar Pashaei is a Kurdish activist, former world wrestling champion, and a relentless advocate for justice. At just five years old, he experienced oppression firsthand, visiting his imprisoned father every Thursday.

Banned from competing internationally due to his political family background, he eventually fled Iran and became a U.S. citizen. He has dedicated his time and voice to supporting the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, working with U.S. Congress, the European Parliament, and international organizations to raise awareness about the Iranian people’s struggle.

His activism has come at a personal cost—his younger brother and sister have both been arrested and tortured in Iran. Today, he leads Justice & Freedom for Iran, bringing together survivors, activists, and athletes to work toward a democratic and secular Iran.
